Before We Say Goodbye

Welcome back to the enchanting world of Funiculi Funicula, a peculiar basement café in Tokyo where time itself bends to the wishes of its patrons. In this heartwarming fourth installment of the beloved 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold' series, Toshikazu Kawaguchi invites readers into a magical space that offers one extraordinary chance: limited time travel. The cafe allows visitors to journey back only within its walls, and only to meet someone who has been there before. Within these interwoven stories, a new group of regulars grapples with unresolved pasts, profound regrets, and the bittersweet nature of human connection. Each visit is governed by strict rules—the journeys must conclude before the original time expires—forcing characters to confront their deepest emotions and unspoken farewells. The novel beautifully explores the age-old question: what would you do if you could revisit a moment in time? More importantly, who would you want to meet, perhaps for one last chance to say goodbye? 'Before We Say Goodbye' is a poignant blend of magical realism and emotional depth, celebrating the enduring beauty of human vulnerability. Through its signature wistful storytelling, Kawaguchi reminds us that some memories are too precious to simply let fade.
